@trophbrwntrouthunter

It used to be so different when people weren’t obsessed with recording themselves breaking the law. I miss them old days.

@mattr3194

Brings back memories of Hwy1oo in Milwaukee every single weekend in the late 90's. Best story ever we had was we were riding in a really nice modded chevelle on the streets. Came up on a Bright Red Merc S600 V12 convertible (a little out of place at the time), the driver was super cool and wanted to run. He lost and said he would be back in about 20 minutes with something a bit 'faster'. Came back he did... in an F40. Fastest car I had ever seen back then, running litre bikes. Turned out it was some guy last named 'Fuchs', not sure what he did but he was totally cool and let everyone check out the car as long as you didnt put your hands on the paint because it was so thin he said he would have to take it home and wash it.

@Leebtrading

Got chills seeing Marko Supra and Sound Performance. Shout out to everyone on Supraforums back in the day!

@bmwpete65s55

In the mid 80's a 12 second car was about as fast as it got. My friends AMX ran low 13's and won most races against the Chevelle's, Camaro's etc. He then bought a 67 Camaro that was strictly a race car and ran it on the street. Low 10's, high 9's, crazy stuff in the 80's. Now there are Civic's that would smoke it.

@SIMSNYC

One of my cars i painted all the nitrous lines black plumbed everything low in the engine bay and into the bottom of the intake. Had a nitrous bottle in a duffle bag behind the passenger seat. Great times

@BMWCubsMan

Did the same in the 90’s. I had my 1991 Eclipse GSX - 550hp AWD it was a monster off the line. Didn’t lose often. Ran from parking lots when the cops showed up a lot. Once I even drove through a field behind a factory where we were parked watching the races and that’s the point I vowed to not street race anymore.

@thatautogarage3644

Hearing this brings back some good memories. It’s sad that most large car “gatherings” are takeovers which has ruined so much for so many people.

@walkthnyt2000

Yup. I was there. Nobody knew what turbo cars could do and Vortech T-trim was the baddest blower. ATI Procharger was still junk. I remember when Marko’s Supra was stock. He told me he’d test driven the 300ZX and was impressed but chose the Supra. Little did he know it would make him a street legend.
Shout out to South Chicago avenue, Stony Island, Old Doty Road, New Doty, Whites Pit Shop in Calumet City, 130th street , The CarX on 95th street, Sauk Trail, South Holland, Amphitheater, All the Grand Nationals lined up at Castle Buick, Nitrous Vette’s, Mustangs and GBodys. Best times ever. Now I’m the old guy in the M5.

“Gimmie two and the hit!”

@babayaga1767

that's not why it's called second city. it's because the whole city burned down in the chicago fire. so when they rebuilt it, it's the second city.

@RioZLander

you know what this reminds me of from back in the early to mid 2000s. Street Fire Dot Net that place use to have the coolest street racing videos from the 90s and the early 2000s

@emptymannull

Late 90s to early 00s was peak. The best I recall was going with a few hundred cars to the outside of Sacramento to what I think I remember was like an old cement factory. Street racing all night until the cops would break it up. In the mid 00s when the cops started to block all exits with tow trucks and they passed the law here in CA that you lose your car forever for street racing or even just being at the event, that just pushed us to more remote areas. Last street race I attended was WAY out in the orchards maybe around 2018 and even food vendors knew to show up 😂 The problem was people increasingly bringing guns and being so stupid as to fire them in the air which would get us major busted.

@racrboy

That was such a great time. I bought my Supra back in ’98. (94 White TT) I remember coming out of Unos (several times) at Golf and Meacham and catching people checking it out—or even looking underneath to see if it was Marko’s 😅
My buddy Haider (white Camaro—#iykyk) used to tell me all about the “tennis ball” spot 😅
I was more into motorcycles, though. Won plenty of races and money back then—not always just straight-line runs, usually point A to B stuff.
This was all before I actually went roadracing. I held a professional license from 2004 to 2019 with AMA Pro Racing/MotoAmerica.
BTW, I still have my Supra—she's officially a garage queen now.

@mdsuave13

Yep, we're getting older friends. Those were the nights. Washington/ Baltimore area here.. Set up a race or two, run from cops for a bit, meet up at a park and ride or industrial park, have a couple races, watch some upsets or a car blow up.... Rinse and repeat for half a decade at least. Now, it's different... are people still street racing like before??

@wusaint

Turbo'd my 82 Supra 5MGE and won most of my races on the street. Got greedy with the boost and spun a rod bearing. Then I swapped it to a 7MGTE. That car never failed to get me easy races because most people didn't even know WTF it was 🤣.

@wwashington0630

Just finished the latest CarTrek last night and you guys really hit it out of the park this time around. Great work!

@kevinheneghan9259

Loved watching the races. Busse woods on Sunday morning

@marcmann982

Shout out to sound performance still doin it for us Supra guys

@nyrep1

My buddy bought Ethan Banks sc300 from him. I drove from SC to MO to get it it and tow it back. That car was an absolute animal , probably only car i have been truly terrified of

@dieselstud2k6

Crazy he mentioned Marko D, his Supra ran 8’s and he would street race it here in Chicago. I ran into him a couple of years ago he’s been out of the scene for a while but he still has a high hp GTR.

@barryjoslin432

Had a 1991 Eagle Talon AWD with a TT, upgraded internals, mapped, and at least 560 at the wheels. Crazy car. Lag lag lag, then BAM - you were looking at the sky, screaming, and laughing hysterically. Blew it up twice, killed the diff, but man, I miss that car. On slicks it would hook up in a terrifying way - after a 4-wheel burnout to get them up to temp. My neck still hurts from that hookup. Painful on the transmission, but those days were not focused on safety. Lost a good friend when his 3-series went into the wall after a wild run.

Used to beat Supras and Mustangs and Camaros all night long. AWD was king.
