This video saved me. So many videos skip steps or go on and on about things that have no relevance. Thank you so much for the best rebuild video I have found
This Guy Is Strait Out Nasty ..Best I Ever Seen... Hands Down
Hiram, today I put the transmission I rebuild watching your videos in my truck finally, lol. All I have to say is Thank you thank you thank you, lol. The transmission shifts perfect, don't feel the 1-2 shift at all, smooth in engagement and no issues at all. This trans is much much better than my last from a so called " transmission shop" . Thank you again you saved me money, time, headaches and above all you taught me not to be afraid to work on transmissions. Your the best, thanks Hiram.
Rebuilt about 8 ye years ago!its got to be one of the Baddest Transmissions built by GMC Engineers!! Thanks for sharing
Very good repair video. It is well paced in the way he lays out his thoughts of the task at hand and his cool laid back delivery is a plus for his video. He precisely gives information to the viewer on how he is proceeding, while explaining the cause and effect of defects that are present or a potential problem with the internal parts. It is miles ahead of most repair video, with no needless chatter and silly jokes that diminishes seriousness in a big way. He ignores the car alarms going off in the background, because we all know it is a workshop environment and that is expected. Not the usual over-explained noise of why an inconsequential vehicle alarm is sounding on a video and pretending to know more than you do. Hiram is an automotive genius! He names every parts in a knowledgeable and inspiring way to DIYers like myself, listing their function and what to look for in their wear rate, further instilling more confidence in his repair. Very good job Hiram!
Here's an honest compliment, Hiram: I just returned from my first test drive after watching this video as I installed my own parts earlier today. You deserve some of the credit for my success on that test drive!. It was my first time inside an automatic. Muchas Gracias! Thanks for playing a part in my day!
Your videos were exactly what I needed to rebuild and fix a few transmissions! Thanks for taking the time to make and post them!
I'm doing my victory dance!! I just test drove my rebuild 4l60e 1999 4wd Tahoe and it is sweet!!! No issues, everything shift good Thanks to you Mr. Dr. Tranny!! This video is awesome!! If I can do it then anyone one can do it by watching this man's video!! Great job Mr. Hiram!!

You are a great teacher. This is a great video. The world needs more people like you.
Thanks so much for taking all the time and effort to make these videos Hiram. They helped me out a ton during the tear-down and rebuild of my 4L60E outta by 04 GMC Sierra. You have the best transmission videos on YouTube.
AMAZING!.........I bet this guy could strip and assemble this transmission with his eyes closed. Whew what a job, too technical for me but I thoroughly enjoyed watching this expert. You can now see why rebuilding a gearbox whether manual or auto is a field on it's own. thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge. Ray H. from the U.K.
Mr. Gutierrez, I have to tip my hat to you and your thoughtfullness in posting this video. I'm astonished at your attention to detail and knowledge. You are a master and know your stuff. I'm impressed sir. Keep up the good work!!!!
Found this video in a general video search for repair. Your encyclopedic knowledge of every single part in the 4L60-E just blew me away. Truly a tour de force. Thanks for filling up 90 minutes of my downtime.
A couple of tips from a 20+ year builder in Texas. Use a 350 front pump bushing, it's wider. You can also get a wider bushing for the rear sun gear. Like Hiram said about the return springs on the 3-4 clutches, reuse them or get some. They help to keep the 3-4 clutches off when doing a high speed kickdown from third to second. Always put a straight edge on the reverse input drum. If they get hot then the shell can kick the ears out and warp the drum making the band only touch at the edges. You can also add two 350 rear clutches to the low reverse to take up some slack.
good afternoon. a few days ago I watched one of your videos. it was mind blowing the amount of info you provided. today I'm watching this one and I'm not as scared as before. thank you for taking the time to teach this art.
