So consumers spend $20 a ticket, $30 for food, and you think we should sit through 30 min of ads?! I love this idea. I appreciate being warned about not being sold to.
It's actually good for AMC to be transparent for both them and consumers. Now, the consumer may not need to rush if they think they will be late for the movie and there is also more time for consumers to purchase food/drink which is THE MAIN income for the theater. This is why food/drink has always been so high for many years. Thank you for the information AMC, I am a fan!
Something worth noting. In 2003 Lowe's Cinemas were sued for showing 30 minutes of commercials and previews. As part of their settlement they agreed to place a disclaimer of when the movie would actually start. In 2006 AMC bought Lowe's. They may be required to place the disclaimer per that lawsuit and acquisition.
I went to see the new Jurassic World movie and was almost a half hour late because of traffic. I was annoyed and had an attitude when I finally got there. Then I went to the wrong auditorium and spent a few minutes trying to understand if the screen showing Brad Pitt was a trailer or the new F1 film. When I realized it was the latter, my mood did not get better. I walked to the correct auditorium and saw that the movie still hadn’t started. I was immediately relieved but then realized that now these movies will start a half hour later. Ridiculous. Except when I’m running late.
No, im not sitting there to watch ads 😂
i always show up 20 minutes late anyway and barely ever miss a thing.
I don’t mind the previews. Just illegally pack more snacks for a longer show 😂
Regular moviegoers already know the movie starts around 20 min after showtime. Now they just giving the info for everybody lol
I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS IN THE THEATER and I first saw a non-movie related commercial in the previews. No one like it !! Now its more and more. I remember even speaking to lawmakers with an attempt to sponsor a bill that ads should be at least movie related in the theater. It just makes me so mad. If I am PAYING to see a movie, don't show me commercials.
30 min of ads? We’re still being charged for the movie, though?
I just watched 28 Years Later at AMC Empire 25 in NYC and the previews were 30 minutes long. I intentionally showed up 15 minutes late to skip the pre-roll, but I was trapped for another 15 minutes. I guess I have to show to 25 minutes late to movies now.
The post-credit scene is all the advertising that I need.
My wife and I are AMC Stubs Premium members and we literally show up for our seats 20 mins after showtime..We noticed the 30 min delay start long before the warning. We love movies and love our membership getting 4 movies a week, but we just get there late now.
I'm glad for the time listed. However I can't stand watching previews then a random commercial pops in
I have noticed over the years people showing up later and later after the showtime start. Didn't we used to have to show up early to see the previews? Now they just have actual advertisements.
This is nothing new. They've been showing at least 20 minutes of commercials and trailers for well over 2 decades now.
This is exactly why people don't go to the theater anymore . Last time I went the reviews took 32 minutes from the start time of the movie. So it turned a 2 hour 15 minutes movie into 2hours 47. The reason they telling you the preview times is cause they don't want a class action lawsuit over it.
And this is why I just wait for streaming
30 mins of ads then cut ticket prices in half.
