"In the face of the law, the princess is no different from a peasant!" Surprisingly based line from Ganondorf
He LOVES it. He will play EVERY Ace Attorney game after this.
That writing is ON POINT. A lot of big fangame projects are amazing, but the writing, plot, etc don't quite hit the mark, because good writing is VERY HARD. But this one knocks it out of the park.
People don't realize how impressive this romhack is. Not only does it recreate ace attorney gameplay in ocarina of time, but it connects with oracle of ages/seasons to unlock a bonus game, and connects with links awakening to unlock a special bonus case around stealing from the store and having your name changed to thief in that game. Finishing the case changes your name in links awakening back to what you put it as (Note: having your name changed is normally permanent without hacking or this romhack), and the bonus case even has special dialogue for different names. Not only through an emulator, but through ACTUAL hardware on a n64 and using the gameboy adapter.
Zelda making up a testimony because she was a princess who wanted to be heard is actual Ace Attorney level writing. Amazing.
How to make Vinny play something: #1 - Give him a voice role #2 - Add a Red Vox reference #3 - Remake it with Nintendo characters
I find it hilarious that the only way to get Vinny to play a game where you read is to put zelda characters in it
Thanks again for playing AND actually finishing it too Vinny, I'm really glad you enjoyed it, makes the years we spent developing this mod feel all the more worth it. Would like to clarify one thing though, the story isn't a sequel to Ocarina of Time, it's more like an alternate universe. This mod really is just a glimpse into a completely different version of Ocarina of Time, some of the things that happened in that game happened, some of them didn't. A sequel case is being discussed and may or may not happen, if it does, I hope to see you all there along for that ride as well. For anyone who wants to see a comprehensive playthrough of the extra case Vinny didn't get to, I recommend watching the one on Parallel Skawo's channel, as he's the main brain behind it. Cheers, had a blast watching this playthrough with y'all chat.
Vinny screwing up the final evidence check by selecting the Attorney Badge is the most Ace Attorney way this stream could have ended. 11/10, can't wait for part 3 where Vinny has to defend his client against the Moon
The creators said this game takes place in the timeline where Link used the triforce to destroy Demise, explaining why things are technologically/culturally more advanced, because Hyrule wasn’t being threatened or destroyed every couple hundred years. And while Ganondorf is not a good person, he’s not evil because Demise’s curse didn’t happen in this timeline. Still, similar events to OoT transpired. If this was this timeline’s equivalent to Ingo kicking Talon out and taking over the ranch, it would be interesting to see what the equivalents to the other events across Hyrule would be.
The fact he intuited showing the badge was a meme in the AA games… he really should play them sometime, even though I totally get why he wouldn’t want to.
I love how in the testimony in this game, it has like two music layers and when you're looking at your evidence some of the louder instruments fade away but when you close it, it comes back. pretty neat touch
Them mentioning the Original Zelda Murder and the sequel bait at the end makes me very confident there will be a grand overarching plot leading to Ganondorf’s arrest, classic AA style
17:02 I really appreciate the inclusion of the "There's something much more damning" line, I can't think of a time in any of the Ace Attornies where the game lets you give the wrong right answer, let alone praises you for figuring out one of the puzzles early
Ngl i'd play a full 5 episodes of something like this. Especially that cool argument section just between the prosecutor and defense attorney.
Not only is the bottom of the gavel the Medallion of Light, but the base Judge Rauru hits it on has indentations matching the markings on the Medallion. Such attention to detail.
I'm so happy he played the rest of this. It has me wanting a new Ace Attourney game so bad.
Fun fact, you can unlock the other extras through a code: just go into the options on the main menu, select the second one and play one of the ocarina songs. The Link's Awakening case is about half an hour long and very good!
8:23 that caught me off guard from how close to the actual "Objection!" sound clip from the ace attorney games
