国を超えて「懐かしく感じる」のは当時のバンドの使っていた楽器が影響しているのでしょうね。80年代に急速にシンセサイザーやエフェクターが普及した為、多くのバンドが使っていました。（Rolandの808やシンセ、エフェクターが爆発的に売れた）再燃したのはこれらの楽器やPCの打ち込みソフト、ボーカロイドの登場（2010年頃）からでしょう。日本のシティポップの特徴はシンセサウンドに加えて時代背景的に歌手の周りに交響楽団のようなクラシックな楽器を使うバンドが含まれていたので「どの世代からも聞き馴染みやすかった」背景があります。サブスクリプションサービスで発見されやすくなったのは本当に良い事ですね‥

You are walking with your boyfriend/girlfriend, who is ending the college, through the bay of Tokyo and Ginza neon lights are glowing in the night. On a wall there's a big poster announcing the new Haruki Kadokawa movie, the hit of the year "CABARET". You both are talking about the future. Your salary will be bigger, so why don't move from your parents' houses to a Tokyo bay apartment building, maybe in Tsukishima, and buy the new Mazda RX-7? There's a newspaper in the road and in the front page can be red how real estate speculation is at its peak and the price of housing has increased by 20%. It's the right moment to invest in your future, but you don't need to think about your future because your present is already perfect. Because you are living in a bubble that seems eternal... Now you are in the right mood to really enjoy city pop.
