"There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people." --Commander William Adama

@LazyLucael

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

@animekitten321

republicans: states' rights
governor: I have the right to control the guardsmen in my state
republicans: no not like that

@Insanity2thePrawn

"Riots might happen again, so we need to occupy with the military" when nothing is happening is the same logic of walking around a kitchen with a primed fire extinguisher when no ones cooking.

@liquidpaper1349

I live around Culver City. When I heard that our local ice cream guy got picked up, my heart sank. He's been here forever and has done nothing more than, you know, sell ice cream. Seeing ICE scurry around the neighborhood is like watching cockroaches.

@getjaynesmith4770

People demanding their government honors their Constitutional rights and protections = insurrection? That behavior is supposed to be lawlessness?? Wow.

@annabellaroma9886

Correction. You can use the military, until, the other side is in power. Then these same people that used it now will be saying its not allowed

@TheChrisLeone

Arrest quotas, I'm sure that won't go sideways!

@Prizzlesticks

For months, I've heard people say, "Trump can't deploy the military against citizens because that's not how X,Y, and Z work! Stop being an alarmist!" And I've just been sitting back, chuckling without humour, and saying, "You stupid fools. When has fascism ever been lawful?"

Policy and procedure don't mean jack. When will people stop prostrating themselves before the courts like it will fix this? Laws, justice, and order are powerless in this, especially when the highest court in the land is bought and paid for by the fascists.

I hate being right.... I wish the world would prove me wrong.

@Destra27

What the hell is happening to the States? From outside, I see this just bewildered. It's crazy how things can change so much in a couple years.

@awedsilent943

Why does everyone assume Vance meant it in a negative light when he called Trump that?
Knowing him, he thought it was a compliment.

@Sarah897b

It is useless to discuss whether any of this is legitimate given that the Supreme Court has already ruled that the Constitution is irrelevant.

@subjekt5577

Josh johnson had the best take on this.

"The LAPD is mad at the national guard and marines coming into town. They want to be the ones cracking heads soooo bad, beating up on protestors is really more of an LAPD thing."

(Paraphrased)

@arcage_0132

I hate the supreme court. It doesn’t do what it was made to do anymore

@harleenvt

My friend was arrested at 3am... for a misdemeanor ticket he had years ago and deported. Green card holder since a kid. Held for 5 months before allowed to have a court hearing. Its wild...

@jenkem4464

Point of order! Vance wasn't confused when he called *Rump America's Hitler. He was spot on!

@GyprockGypsy

For anyone bad at math, 3000 people a day is about 1 million a year. That's enough to off-set the current population growth of America.

@moosemax6346

they can't even process 3k people a day unless they completely intends to violate peoples rights and ignore due process.

@ProcyonDei

Talking about the legality of all this is pointless when the Supreme Court already declared that the Constitution doesn't matter...
