@rapunzelagain

I swear, Joaquin Phoenix can do anything. The fact that he was really singing in this will always blow me away. That's not an easy voice to impersonate.

@elizabethg4948

The face expressions he makes...they are stunning.
Great actor!

@blackbird2020

This scene has stayed with me ever since the movie was released. Especially the part with the man yelling “When I was arrested, I was dressed in Black”. Such a genuine moment!

@jojo1cool

Fun fact: Joaquin played the guitar and sang the songs that he won a grammy, unlike many recent music biopics with just imitations, Joaquin's dedication to the roles is rare and phenomenal.

@jarrodschrunk3157

How he didn't win an Oscar for this performance is beyond me

@hefipaleburp9543

Probably one of the best biographical movies ever. I think His performance was brilliant. Worthy of an Oscar.

@MC-xv2tn

The fact that he actually sang for this movie is insane lowkey.

@rickraber1249

Did you see how he got Johnny's crooked grin down in the middle of the song? This guy's a genius actor. Nobody can sing like Johhny did, but this guy does such a good job.

@mitchellmurray5892

Phoenix morphed into Johnny Cash. He truly embodied the singer with skill and style.

@arthurfleck816

This should’ve been his FIRST Oscar. He KILLED this role!

@balbas_pusa

Joaquin Phoenix is a really versatile actor.

@MrCurbinator

I love Joaquin. He’s a genuine artist. No hollywood theatrics, no publicity stunts. This guy goes radio silent for big stretches, gets into a character on an amazingly deep level, then comes outa f—-in nowhere when he’s ready with an outstanding performance, and thats regardless of the movie too. He does good even when the movie is bad.

@19jacinta88

When he shifts the guitar and points it like a rifle, there's a split second where he actually looks exactly like Johnny Cash.

@lottostuuud

“This songs for your warden!” Such a badass

@Scoops_slinger

Fun fact: in preparation for this role, Joaquin Phoenix read the script and memorized his lines

@gerribeatty8153

I love the part at 1:50 where the man is looking like he got so much joy out of hearing the "dressed in black" part. He probably heard the real Cash perform it and it brought back memories

@pam0626

This scene gives me chills. He smashes the glass without flinching. Brilliant performance by Joaquin.

@carsontate01

His performance was truly uncanny. As a kid watching this film I actually thought he was the real Johnny cash.

@bluetrailerproductions7488

I love how Johnny Cash sang his music for everyone. He was such an amazing man

@P16-t8o

I love the cocaine eyes and sniff he does when he’s singing
