Falls of the Ohio Hiking - Crossing the Spillway
In this video I go hiking and fishing at the falls of the Ohio state park at the upper McAlpine locks and and dam spillway. Falls of the Ohio hiking in the late summer and early fall is unique, as you can hike across the spillway. The Army Corps of Engineers close the gates to the upper spillway allowing hikers to cross the spillway and hike the fossil beds. Fish get trapped in pools of water with no where to go. Most of the fish appear to be Asian carp. Buzzards eat the dead fish and can be seen everywhere. Hiking the falls of the Ohio is really neat, but can be somewhat dangerous due to moving water and slip hazards.
