Endless Descent - Day 13 | 30-Day Composition Challenge (Theme: Spiral Staircase)
This was written for Day 13 of Ryan Leach's "2022 Theme of the Day Challenge" where I'll compose one piece per day for the entirety of June. The prompt for June 13th was "Spiral Staircase". I pictured in mind a staircase that never ends, leaving you infinitely trapped going down an unending spiral. I chose a more eerie direction through a descending Shepard Tone (illusion of a continually falling tone) to create ambience for that 'infinite' descent, while having floating sparkling disjunct lines with a hint of rhythm. On a side note, this probably was a mistake to work on such an unnerving composition late at night. This also kind of reminds me of a spaceship or sinking submarine falling to the depths of the deep sea.
