Social worker Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) and Detective Mike Barron (Ian McShane) arrive just in time to save Lillith (Jodelle Ferland). They wanted to end the girl by locking her in the oven. Afterwards, the couple is sent to a mental hospital, and the girl is adopted by Emily.
